Play with Paint - Work in Progress
There were a few materials limitations ( 3 colours and black and white, with paper taped off into smaller squares) but after that the instruction was just to play with paint for 30 minutes, making lots of expressive marks with tools and drawing mediums that were experimental and mixing as many colours as possible

Shake It Up - Work in Progress
The first part of the challenge was to pick up colours that you don't usually use and select a range of tools that are unfamiliar to work with. The second part of the challenge was to then revert to more usual colours and tools but this time add in a couple of items from session 1. The key for this exercise was to try and focus on the feelings that arose as we worked.

Capturing Your Energy - Work in Progress
A challenge for any artist is to capture and portray energy and dynamism on a static surface. It really comes down to the marks that are visible in the paint or drawing medium, whether those are brushstrokes or pencil lines.

Studio Diary - May 2022

Optimism - Work in Progress
This painting is from my Curiosity Series, and amazingly I managed to catch most of it on video for you! All the paintings in this series began with collage on cradled timber panels and were moved forward with plenty of paint and drawing media.

Feeling Green - Work in Progress
I'm not a hoarder exactly, but I do confess to being a saver!
Whilst tidying up the studio as my latest series nears completion, I realised I had so many interesting little snippets of paper leftover.
I just can't bear to throw these little moments in time away so I sorted them out into different colours and wondered what I could do with them.
This little sketch was really just a distraction from my housekeeping!
