

Studio Diary - November 2022
This month sees the start of a new body of work, so I've been contemplating exploring new pathways to creating, beginning with materials, processes and a fresh perspective.
Should I be following a straight line?
If I was a representational painter doing a traditional perspective drawing maybe, or if I was an architect and wanted to avoid wonky buildings!
But I've been thinking lately about straight lines in the context of the 'artist's path.'

What Lies Beneath - Paper Collage
Celebrating and preserving the surface history that's created by building a painting in layers, is very much part of my process and an exciting way to work.
I love that the myriad of decisions made along the way are evident in when the painting is finished. It might just be that the edge of a piece of collage is showing through the paint, or the remnants of a charcoal line remain in an unexpected place. Or that I've dry brushed paint in an area which allows the under paint

Purple Haze - Work in Progress
If you've been following my Instagram you'll know I've been exploring new colour combinations lately and blue/purple/magenta came up. I make a quick video of this little painting coming together in my sketchbook.

Studio Diary - October 2022
As Noosa Open Studios wraps up for another year, I'm sharing answers to some of this year's great visitor questions and already I'm thinking about what comes next!
What a buzz!
What a wonderful 9 days it's been, catching up with lots of lovely visitors from last year and meeting new art lovers, collectors and Instagram followers.

Fields of Green - Work in Progress
Working on my latest big painting from my Habitat Series I was really wrestling with the greens. On the wall at the same time I had all the other pieces from this collection which had a multitude of lovely greens - from golden yellow to vibrant lime. I was keen to try and bring this big piece into the fold and I thought that getting the greens in tune with those in the other paintings would be the answer.

Habitat Series - Video Catalogue
A year in the making, my Habitat Series is finally complete! What a journey with such great learnings to take away from the process of making this collection of paintings.
Allowing myself 12 months to work through these pieces has opened up a world of different possibilities and given me new and alternative approach to my art making. Reviewing the work now, I can see how each piece has been infused with elements from other works in progress and experimental explorations that
