Colour Theory Painting: Sunday Dunes - Work in Progress

Continuing with my colour theory explorations in paint and with my gel plate! The colour focus for this sketch was the triad of Red-Violet, Blue-green and Yellow-Orange.

Sunday Dunes Gel Prints

These are colours I haven't used before as a combination and part way through making the painting I decided to get out the gel plate to create some collage material in suitable colours.


So this Blog post includes both processes!


My discovery of the day was these organic leaf/flower-like shapes that appeared when I pressed the end of a paint pen into the paper as it lay on the plate (wet strength tissue).



You can see the results of my experiments at the end of the gelli print video.


My collection of colour theory based paintings is coming along well and is providing me with some great reference material for future paintings.
