Making art can be a risky business, but what does 'creative risk' look and feel like? Art making risks are unique to the individual. What doesn't feel risky for you in your arts practice, could feel very risky for me and vice versa. Red, Yellow and Blue are intense primary colours and used altogether in their raw form are fairly overwhelming! But with the addition of plenty of white, more pastel shades are achieved that work beautifully together. The pure colours add a lively pop of colour. This sketch evolved from some leftover drawing pieces from my Portal Series and began with lots of bright colour.

I'm working on a couple of big paintings at the moment for an upcoming exhibition in early 2023 and whilst I had greens on my palette I wanted to capture some of the colours in my sketchbook for future reference. ....

A little time-out sketch! I love just seeing what shapes emerge and responding to what the image is telling me it needs next. I picked up Mars Black for the darks which I haven't used for a while (and never in a big painting) and the way it works with the magenta is something I think I might explore a bit more at some stage. Am still feeling drawn to capturing 'space'. I'm wondering if maybe this is becoming my eternal quest!

This group exhibition is presented by members of Arts Connect Inc around the theme of the reptiles and amphibians that call the rainforest reserve home. A diverse and eclectic show of artwork including paintings and sculpture. The show also includes an ‘Art to Go’ section with small works under $100.
