Tips, ideas, and behind-the-scenes stories from the studio. Whether you’re an artist yourself, a collector, or just creatively curious, this is your space to feel inspired, encouraged, and connected to the joy of making.
This upcoming exhibition by members of Arts Connect Inc promises to be a diverse show with work from local Sunshine Coast Artists, including two pieces from my Distillation Series, considering the themes of Truth, Healing & Prophecy. The gallery is open 9.30 am to 3.30 pm daily.
It's a similar story with all of my paintings - from the chaotic beginnings to the final resolution, the journey is guided only by what emerges autonomously and my sense of awareness of what is unfolding in front of me.
My trusty sketchbook is never far away, whatever I'm working on in the studio. I see it as a free space, with no rules, just for play. It's a testing ground for ideas, colours and shapes. It's also a dumping ground for left over paint and interesting snippets of collage paper that seem too precious to throw away.
Do you love your sketchbook? Or is yours on the shelf gathering dust, with only something on the first few pages? I confess I used to start my sketchbooks with grand intentions of filling it completely with marvellous drawings.
