What do you give an artist for Christmas?
There's something that's top of my list this year......
No, it's not paint, or new pencils or brushes or even workshop experiences or a special gallery visit (though I'd love to be gifted a quick trip to Sydney to see the Magritte exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.....)
But in reality, it's none of those things.

I've tried juggling more than once....
I can definitely say, it's not on my list of successful achievements!
But set aside, for a moment, the image of a court jester's outfit and the three pointed hat with bells on the end and the pixie shoes with the curled up toes.

Studio Diary - October 2024
I think I'm going backwards.
But is it a bad thing?
I've stumbled into a pause.....
It's been a pretty hectic few months, culminating in Noosa Open Studios and I won't lie, I sat down on the Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the thought of having no particular deadlines to meet this side of the festive season - which someone reminded me the other day is only 12 weeks away (I've absolutely no idea how that can be possible, my brain is still in January).

Monochromatic Sketches Inspire Emotive Colourful Landscapes in the Wayfinder Series.
This body of work saw me return to my monochrome sketchbook drawings of plants and foliage for fresh inspiration. My aim was to re-interpret these black and white mixed media drawings and transform them into new references to the natural world in my abstract landscape work. Adding another dimension to the aesthetic of my paintings in the form of organic shapes was made possible by revisiting prints, drawings and paintings of tangled undergrowth, trees, ponds and water plants

Who doesn't love a bit of Magic?
Wow, what a week it's been!
When the mundane stuff is done, the floor is swept, the paintings are on the wall, and I can see through the windows properly for the first time since last October, the waiting begins.
