It's nearly that time again! This years Open Studios event will run from 1-9 October. The trail guide is now up online so you can browse at leisure ahead of time and plan your visit. With 117 studios open to the public across the event week, you're sure to find some real treasures just waiting to be discovered!

A new event for participating artists in this year's Open Studios is an exhibition to be held at the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre in September ahead of the main event in October. Studios 100 will feature a work from each artist which will undoubtedly be a diverse and eclectic exhibition showcasing the wide ranging arts practices of artists from across our region.

If you've been following me on Instagram you'll know I've stumbled into a new colour combo - Blue Black Indigo and Quinacridone Magenta. Why I launched into new paintings with these colours without having given them a road test in my sketchbook is anybody's guess! So here's a quick sketch using these colours along with white and Pastel Lemon.

I was thrilled to have recently had the opportunity to exhibit this series at Yandina Art & Framing, in the historic town of Yandina here on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Such a warm and welcoming atmosphere is to be found in this local store and gallery!

For some artists, clarity about the work they're making is just always appears to be there and always...well, crystal clear, and usually that's because they have managed to refine and simplify their concept or idea, and relate it specifically and coherently to the work they are making.

Gympie Regional Gallery hosts the annual Du Reitz Art Award at the historic School of Arts Building in Gympie. This year I am thrilled to have been selected as a finalist! This is a fantastic exhibition packed full of diverse 2D and 3D work, with everything from ceramics, assemblage, photography, drawing and painting by both local and national artists.
