'One Fine Day' evokes the kind of day where the air is clean and fresh, the light is generous, and I can see for miles into the distance with total clarity. With the Yorkshire Dales stretching out before me, vast, endless and ancient, this is the kind of landscape that makes me realise my own smallness, and at the same time gives me a deep sense of comfort, that all is right with the world. Eucalypt branches frame this childhood vista, as my present day experience of the Australian bush finds its way into a memory that has never lost its scale, the hills still as imposing to me now as they were then, the two places meeting inside a single fine day.
