Muted Colour in an Abstract Painting: Forest Flow - Work in Progress

As I've been working on my new paintings, one of them began to wander off into the land of muted colour with pinks and greens, which isn't a colour combination I've really used before.
So, I thought I'd have a quick play around with doing a painting in muted colours to see what would happen and if I was struck by any kind of inspiration!
But my love for more vibrant colour came bouncing back before too long and I noticed that my 'verticals' weren't feeling so strong either.
My take-away from this sketch was the big shapes that I ended up with, which have given my bigger paintings a nudge in a slightly different direction.
I'm not sure the colour work was as helpful as I'd hoped it might be, but it was still a very useful little painting to do!
