A New Realm of Abstraction: 'Over Rule' Work In Progress Movie

This painting marked the inaugural piece in my newly conceived 'Distillation Series', a body of work that represents a significant evolution in my artistic journey. In this series, I embarked on an exploration of innovative techniques and methodologies, aiming to push the boundaries of my creativity and delve deeper into the realm of abstraction.

My goal was to transform the conventional representations of landscapes, stripping away the overt details that often define them, and instead, I sought to convey the essence of these scenes through more subtle and nuanced forms.

As I engaged with this process, I found myself challenged to re-evaluate my perceptions and interpretations of the natural world around me.

| Allowing Abstraction to Become the Focus

The landscapes that once seemed straightforward began to take on new meanings, inviting me to look beyond their physical characteristics and to tap into the emotional and atmospheric qualities that they evoke.

This shift in perspective encouraged me to experiment with color, texture, and composition, allowing me to create works that resonate on a deeper level, both visually and emotionally and go further into the world of abstraction, leaving more literal landscape references behind.

In the development of this painting, I employed a variety of techniques that deviated from my previous styles. I layered colors in a way that allowed them to interact dynamically, creating a sense of depth and movement that resulted in a thickly layered surface.

The brush strokes became more expressive, evoking the ephemeral qualities of the landscape. Each decision I made was driven by a desire to challenge not only myself but also the viewer, inviting them to engage with the artwork in a more profound manner.

I love to encourage a dialogue between the viewer and the painting, where the subtleties of form and color prompt personal interpretations and reflections.

Ultimately, this painting serves as a pivotal moment in my artistic practice, representing both a departure from the familiar and an embrace of the unknown.

It is a testament to my commitment to growth and exploration within my work, as I continually strive to find new ways of 'seeing' and representing the world around me.

Through the 'Distillation Series', I hope to inspire you to look beyond the surface and to appreciate the intricate layers of abstraction and meaning that can exist within the simplest of forms.
