Gympie Regional Gallery hosts the annual Du Reitz Art Award at the historic School of Arts Building in Gympie. This year I am thrilled to have been selected as a finalist! This is a fantastic exhibition packed full of diverse 2D and 3D work, with everything from ceramics, assemblage, photography, drawing and painting by both local and national artists. I can't recommend a visit highly enough for a snapshot of the exciting work that's being made across the region and further afield. Well renowned local artists include Kym Barrett, Jooli Gibbs, Trevor Purvis, Lizzie Connor, Charmaine Lyons, Susan Schmidt to name a few. To be hanging in the same space as these exceptional artist is an honour indeed! The overall winning piece by Ian Gunn is simply stunning and Emma Thorpe's "Still Water" won the 2D prize.
My mixed media painting 'Submerged' was selected to be part of this exhibition which was pre-selected by Noosa Regional Gallery Director Michael Brennan and Trudie Leigo, Regional Arts Manager, CQ University and Independent Curator, with final judging by Kevin Wilson, arts writer and co-ordinator of the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre.
