'Shadowland' became an exploration of my relationship with light and dark, the seen and unseen and a recognition that the threshold between the two states offers a point of personal transformation. Acknowledging and integrating our ‘shadows’ creates a pathway of personal growth towards wholeness, and a more genuine sense of self. Through the making of this painting, I found myself drawn into a deeper inquiry about what ‘authenticity’ means in relation to the way in which my true self emerges naturally and spontaneously in my creative work.
