Mixed Media Painting Video: The Gathering - Work in Progress

I'm still adding to my growing collection of mixed media paintings on paper - exploring colour. I started to see organic shapes in this sketch from the very beginning which informed the way it turned out!

A fair bit of colour play without any particular direction in mind beyond starting with blue, pinks and a green and mixed media of course!


This one spent some time in portrait orientation but settled into landscape eventually. The end result put me in mind of leaves gathering at the water's edge.


Already the colour palette that emerged in this sketch is weaving its way into one of my bigger paintings which is currently a work in progress, so we'll see where that goes!


This piece became another in my Explorer Series of mixed media paintings on paper, all about playing and exploring.
