Local Art Prize Finalist

What a lovely surprise! My painting Rustlers has been selected as a finalist in the Caloundra Regional Gallery's Local Artists - Local Content Art Prize 2022. This is the first year I've entered an artwork in this competition run by the friends of the gallery.

40 artworks, both 2D and 3D, have been selected for the show which opens to the public on Friday 25th March and runs until the 8th May. The selected works are now available to view on the Sunshine Coast Council's website (see link below), though there's no substitute for seeing them in person! Come along to the gallery and show your support for our local artists, sharing their diverse and original interpretations of the theme - to depict an aspect of living and working on the Sunshine Coast.

Amidst the diverse and awe-inspiring landscapes of the Sunshine Coast are many tiny creatures that quietly inhabit the undergrowth and contribute to balancing our ecosystem.

‘Rustlers’ is a homage to the beautiful Blue Tongue Lizard who often goes unseen and is shy to declare its presence. Just a quiet rustling of the leaves is all we may hear as a sign that it’s close by.
